I invented this recipe while trying to recreate (from memory) a berry-flavored Lillet cocktail I once had at a restaurant in Germany. Though this is not the same, it comes rather close and tastes quite refreshing – perfect for a hot day!
Ingredients
Makes 1 drink.
- 1 oz. Lillet blanc
- 1 oz. vodka
- 1 oz. cranberry juice
- 1/2 – 1 bottle ginger beer (Fever Tree, if possible!)
- 1/4 oz. lemon juice
- 1/4 – 1/2 oz. simple syrup (to taste)
- Berries (optional; raspberries, strawberries, and/or blackberries will work well!)
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake Lillet blanc, vodka, cranberry juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup together. If using berries, add a few as sacrifice to the gods of flavorful cocktails.
- Strain into a cup. (Use a tin-lined copper mug if you want to keep the mule vibe strong. Add a couple ice cubes if you want to keep it cold).
- Top with ginger beer, add berries, and stir gently.
- Enjoy!
Variants
- If you’d like an even more refreshing cocktail, add mint! Muddle fresh mint in the cocktail shaker before adding the other ingredients in Step 1, and garnish at with a mint sprig once you’re done with Step 3.
- Substitute for the ginger beer! If you’re in Europe, you can probably to find Fever Tree’s Rhubarb & Raspberry-flavored Tonic Water. Substitute this for the ginger beer in the recipe.
- Use lemonade! You can also substitute lemonade instead of using the ginger beer, simple syrup, and lemon juice.
